FAQ’s

How long is a counselling session?

A counselling session lasts 50 minutes.

How often will the sessions be?

This is entirely your choice. Ideally, sessions are weekly, on the same day at the same time but we totally understand if you would prefer bi-weekly, monthly or ad hoc.

Will there be a set number of counselling sessions?

No, you and your counsellor can decide how many sessions you want and you can stop counselling whenever you want to.

Is there online chat available

Yes, the system offers secure online chat.

Do I need to download any software?

No, we offer a secure online platform that includes video conferencing. You can connect using your mobile phone, desktop or tablet.

Is counselling confidential?

Absolutely, there are just a couple of exceptions and these are if you or another may be at risk of harm. This will all be explained during the first session.

Would I be able to bring a friend or my child with me

Counselling is based on one to one during sessions. It is normal to feel anxious about starting therapy. Please do let us know prior and we can support you to enable your to access our counselling service.

If I enquire and leave my telephone number, will you leave a message on my voicemail?

Please rest assured. If you leave your telephone number and we call you back, we will always have our telephone number hidden to avoid any questions you may experience. Confidentiality is utmost our priority.

Do you offer bi weekly sessions

Yes, absolutely. We even offer sessions ad hoc - there is no pressure.

Where do we go with Walk and Talk

We will arrange to meet at a suitable location along the beach in Worthing. During our first session online, we will chat about what happens during "Walk and Talk" for example if you bump in to a friend whilst we are walking.

Does Empowering Counselling Services offer Face to Face

As a sustainable service, I prefer to keep sessions either via Walk and Talk/Online or Telephone.

We have looked in to Face To Face but from feedback from clients, clients prefer to be where they feel "safe" during sessions rather than a clinical setting.

Where would I know where to start

This is very common with clients. Please do not worry, we will spend some time looking at your timeline and building on your emotions from the past, present and future. Therapy is a little like sorting the attic/loft out, there is a lot of stuff coming out that you had forgotten about, in sessions we will re-visit what comes up, once we have sorted out what to keep and what to turf out, we can organise the loft with only what we want to keep in an orderly fashion.

Do you accept EAP? (Employee Assisted Programmes)

Absolutely, if your employer's have given you permission to seek a counsellor, please do get in touch with us. Normally, your employer will request confirmation you will be in therapy for a set number of sessions and will request an online invoice from Empowering Counselling Services.
